Multiple homes catch fire in Avalon
AVALON, Pa. (KDKA) -- Multiple homes caught fire early Friday morning in Avalon Borough. The fire broke out just after 5:00 this morning along McKinley Avenue.Multiple fire crews were called out to battle the flames that spread to multiple nearby homes."To see how big this was, it was certainly a shock," said Kace Nelson, a man who lives nearby. "I certainly hope nobody was in the house."Avalon Police Chief Tom Kokoski spoke with KDKA and said that one of his officers was injured while responding to the fire, but he's expected to be okay.Chief Kokoski said that crews are searching for the occupant of the home. Crews contain leak from sunken boat in Ohio River
A boat sunk in the Ohio River near Pittsburgh’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood Friday. The boat sunk near the old site of SCI Pittsburgh, better known as Western Penitentiary, at around 12:30 p.m. Reports indicated the boat was leaking some type of oil or fuel. Fire crews both on land and on the water with the fire boat worked to contain the spill. Pittsburgh Public Safety officials confirmed the boat produced a small fuel leak.
