Humane Society Rummage Sale Breaks Records
The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) Door County Campus annual rummage sale was a record success with the most items ever donated and $7,000 raised. Many leftover items were accepted at Green Door Thrift in Sturgeon Bay, where a portion of the proceeds from each sale will still benefit the WHS Door County Campus.

Horticulturist Program On Trees, Shrubs
Horticulturist and Fish Creek resident Tom Wolfe, who served as the head gardener and horticulturist at The Art Institute of Chicago for more than 30 years, will lead a program on trees and shrubs of Door County at 10:30 am, Sunday, May 26 at Newport State Park. Weather permitting, the group will spend some time in the woods. The event will be at the Nature Center, Lot 1.
Ash Named Pioneers’ Head Boys Hoops Coach
An assistant girls basketball coach at Sevastopol will take over as the Pioneers’ head boys basketball coach next season. The Sevastopol Board of Education on Wednesday approved the hiring of Tom Ash as the head boys coach. Ash, who works at Northeast Asphalt, previously was the Pioneers’ head baseball coach before stepping down after the 2022 season.
