MOBILE — Andrew Allen took a major step forward in his recovery from a knee injury on Tuesday.

The senior pitcher and Arkansas State signee pitched four strong innings as he and Samuel Henegar tag-teamed on Alexandria’s 2-0 victory over Baldwin County at Mobile’s Matthews Park.

Alexandria is 13-8 after falling to Saraland 3-2 in Tuesday night’s game.

Allen, who missed five weeks after undergoing surgery, made his second appearance since returning to action. He struggled against Oxford last week but allowed one hit, no runs and three walks with six strikeouts while getting the win Tuesday.

Henegar worked the final three innings, allowing two hits, no runs and one walk with two strikeouts. He also had a single and an RBI.

Eli Barnes and Evan Snow had two singles apiece, and Barnes had an RBI.

Alexandria’s victory over Baldwin County followed up a 13-3 loss to Faith Academy in Monday’s opening game of the Valley Cubs’ annual spring-break trip to South Alabama.

ARDMORE 2, WHITE PLAINS 1: Playing in the Spring Experience at Choccolocco Park, Ardmore scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead.

For White Plains (9-12), Coleman Ray and Aiden Kilgore held Ardmore to four hits and no earned runs with one strikeout. Ashton Wallace had the Wildcats’ RBI, and they got a single apiece from Kilgore, Paul Laube, Cooper Tinney, Dalton Luker and Braxton Curles.

JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 4, OXFORD 0: Jacksonville got a goal apiece from Kylie Terrell, Emerson Weaver, Willa Kate Walker and Joeh Kim. Sarah Sloughfy assisted on the first goal, and Lexi Page added two assists. Emma Easterling anchored the defense, while goalie Kelsie Sigler had four saves to earn the shutout.

OXFORD BOYS 9, JACKSONVILLE 2: Oxford got two hat tricks, with three goals apiece from Yandel Ramos Amador and Aldo Gutierrez. Tristen Koontz scored two goals, and Keven Martinez added one.
