C-M boys reach triple figures, finish third at EBF
EDDYVILLE — Xavier Woods was part of three wins, and the Colfax-Mingo boys track and field team also won a pair of relays at the EBF Rocket Relays on Tuesday. The Tigerhawks scored in triple figures for the third time this season and finished third in the small-school division with 114 points.
Lady Dees earn split, beat Centerville
Centerville – For the second time in as many weeks, Albia and Centerville clashed on the soccer pitch and for the second time the Lady Dees walked away with a win. The first time they played, Albia pitched a 3-0 shutout against the visiting Big Reds. Centerville was held scoreless again on April 22 while Albia scored twice. Olivia Sheffield and Sydney Hoskins scored one goal each.
Lady Dees finish third at PCM Invite
Chariton – The Lady Dees Lady Dees placed sixth on April 22 at Chariton Girls Invite. Brianna Wolfer led the team shooting 94, finishing fourth overall. Faith Rozenboom from Knoxville led the field with a score of 86. Emma Kipfer also finished top-10 for Albia, placing eighth after shooting 108. Aubrey Major and Claire Powers rounded out the scoring for the Lady Dees, placing 17th and 18th with scores of 122 and 124, respectively. Knoxville won the meet by compiling a 395-team score while Albia scored 448, four strokes behind fourth-place Chariton and three behind PCM.

Lady Dees finish fourth at Grinnell Tournament
Grinnell – Albia’s girls tennis squad finished fourth at the Grinnell Tournament on April 22 by scoring 59 team points. Ballard won the tournament by scoring 137. Ryleigh Birchmier won her singles match against Meagan McGaffin of Nevada with a score of 8-3. Nevada got one back against the Lady Dees with Kaitlyn McGaffin beating Megan Teno, also 8-3. In doubles action against the Cubs beat Albia in both matches with the duo of Ayla Green and Paige Popson 10-1. Christa Gronewold and Brookelynn Spinler fared better but were still handed a 7-4 loss.
