ALBANY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Happy Monday and Tax Day! Per Meteorologist Matt Mackie, today will be a breezy day with temperatures in the low 60s and there’ll be chances of showers up north.

A City of Syracuse police officer and Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy were shot and killed in the line of duty Sunday night. Also, crews were on scene early Sunday morning responding to a fire on Learned Street in Albany. A juvenile and two others being arrested in a shots fired incident, Flags4Fallen honoring Kaylin Gillis in a half marathon, and a North Greenbush eatery opening up an ice cream stand are all covered in your five things to know this Monday morning.

1. Syracuse officer and Onondaga County deputy shot and killed after investigating stolen vehicle

A City of Syracuse police officer and Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy were shot and killed in the line of duty Sunday night.

2. Crews respond to fire on Learned St. in Albany

Crews were on scene early Sunday morning responding to a fire on Learned Street in Albany. Learned Street is located between Thacher Street and North Ferry Street off of Broadway.

3. GPD: Juvenile, 2 others arrested in shots fired incident

Three people were arrested, one of them being a juvenile, in a shots-fired incident that happened Sunday around 1:14 a.m. in Guilderland. The unnamed juvenile, Jason Peck (41, Guilderland), and Martin Dipardo (43, Guilderland), each face several charges.

4. Flags4Fallen honors Kaylin Gillis in half marathon

Flags4Fallen, a running community that carries American flags across the finish lines of races to honor fallen Americans, honored Kaylin Gillis, of Schuylerville, at Saturday’s half marathon.

5. North Greenbush eatery opens ice cream stand

Located inside the Route Fore Golf Center, Klubhouse Kafe is holding its soft opening this week for its new ice cream stand. The eatery is now offering soft serve and hard ice cream, as well as sundaes.
