According to Alamo Police Chief Saul Solis, the officers were shooting at a vehicle, and a piece of shrapnel returned and struck the officer.

A female Alamo officer suffered a deep laceration to her bicep and a firearm instructor, who works for the sheriff’s office, suffered a leg injury. The officer is being treated at a local hospital, Solis said.

“Our primary concern is the well-being of our officers and staff. We are providing full support to those involved and their families during this time,” Solis stated.

The Alamo Police Department is investigating the incident to determine the cause, and to prevent future occurrences in the future.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
