    Man arrested for alleged assault and robbery in Alabaster

    ALABASTER, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Alabaster Police Department announced the arrest of a man allegedly responsible for a robbery over the weekend.

    According to APD, officers responded to a call for service at a closed gas station around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Initial information indicated a vehicle had been stolen from the location. Upon arrival, officers found a victim who had injuries.

    The victim reported they were giving Michael King, 30, of Bessemer, a ride home when the assault happened. King then took their vehicle and left northbound on I-65.

    Pelham officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop on King. King was apprehended on Oxmoor Road in Birmingham and was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree assault, attempting to elude and unlawful possession of a pistol.

    He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on no bond.
