Hoover Police prepares for the busy shopping season
HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) - The Hoover Police Department is preparing and planning ahead in order to keep the community safe ahead of a busy shopping season. According to officials with the Hoover PD, the department has been planning for the influx of holiday shoppers for a few months now. Captain Keith Czeskleba with the HPD says the department is taking an all-hands-on-deck approach by adding additional officers at shopping centers in order to help the community safe during the holidays.

Cranes dispatched to Calera train derailment, blocked railroad crossing. Pelham Police looking for missing man with dementia. Cranes were sent to Calera to clear a path for traffic after a partial train derailment. Norfolk Southern dispatched the cranes to help clear crossings near Alabama 25. The broken section of track caused the derailment, blocking traffic at Milstead Drive, Orangewood Circle, and the entrance to the Lhoist North America plant. Traffic is now clear.

Calera PD: Blocked Norfolk Southern crossing after track damage
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A Norfolk Southern railroad track has sustained damage, resulting in a blockage, according to the Calera Police Department. According to reports, a Norfolk Southern train is blocking the entrances to the Milstead, Orangewood, and Lhoist communities near Highway 25. The Calera PD shared on X that the blockages are caused by damage to the railroad track. They explained that officials with Norfolk Southern said that the train is partially derailed due to the damage.
