Officials have identified a body found Monday night inside a Sherbondy Hill apartment complex as Gregory Bernard Dykes, a 37-year-old Akron man killed by a bullet wound to the head.

Authorities are investigating the shooting that left Dykes dead, Gary Guenther from the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said in a release.

Akron police responded to the apartment complex in the 1200 block of Everton Drive at about 10 p.m. after a 911 call reported a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Dykes on the eighth floor of the apartment in the hallway, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:31 p.m., Guenther said in the release.

Detectives believe there was an argument between Dykes and the suspect before the shooting. Police are working to determine what exactly led to the shooting as well as identify and find a person of interest.

    The investigation is ongoing.
