Wold change of venue for OWI set for Henry County, Iowa
The OWI case involving landlord Andrew Wold has been moved to Henry County, Iowa, according to an order from the Supreme Court of Iowa. Wold, 42, owned the downtown Davenport apartment building that collapsed in Davenport on May 28, 2023, killing three people and injuring others. Washington City Council unanimously accepts Jaron Rosien's resignation as Mayor
WASHINGTON, Iowa (KWWL) -- On Tuesday the Washington City Council voted unanimously to accept Mayor Jaron Rosien's resignation following claims of sexual abuse. Rosien turned himself into custody in January 2023 on sexual abuse charges after a man claimed that he was abused by Rosien at a bar that he owned. The alleged incident took place on January 8.
Washington County Board of Supervisors Discuss Wind Turbine Road Use and Decommissioning Plans
The Washington County Board of Supervisors discussed a Wind Turbine Ordinance, Road Use Agreement, and Decommissioning Plan at their Tuesday meeting. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius gives more information on the plans, “Some things put together, so they are really just putting them out there for the first time for people to see and look at. The road use agreement is kind of a collaboration of multiple counties, looking at what they have done for road use agreements. And the decommissioning plan language, looked at a handful, the bulk of that comes from what’s in Johnson county’s ordinance right now for their decommissioning plan.” The plans will be on the next Board of Supervisors meeting to discuss and review.
Washington City Council Approved Grant Proposal For Siren Replacement
The Washington City Council approved a proposal to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation for grant funds at their meeting on Tuesday. Mayor Pro-Tem Millie Youngquist gives more details on the grant request, “This one is to be a commitment of matching funds. The county is applying for a grant, to replace all of the sirens in Washington County so they are all on the same system.” The grant would help to replace all of the sirens in the City and add some additional locations for sirens.

Eight Vehicle Incidents Friday Due To Weather
On Friday, Washington County Communications received eight reports of vehicle accidents related to winter weather in the listening area. Today is the last day to join the Washington Public Library for a Quilt Crawl. The crawl will be taking place from 9-1 today. Travel from the UP Church to Art Domestique, to the Library. Make sure to pick up a ticket and get it punched at each location for a chance to win a quilt. The UP Church will have community quilts on display, Art Domestique will have the quilts of artists Mary Kay Hymes and Wendy Reed, and the Library will have the quilts of artist Erik Jon Olson made from plastic waste.
5 Injured in Washington County Collision on Friday
There was a two-vehicle accident in Washington County that left a total of five people injured on Friday, according to the Iowa State Patrol. A vehicle driven by 69-year-old John Schrock of Wellman was traveling northbound on Highway 1. Meanwhile, a second vehicle, driven by 38-year-old Aurelio Munguia from Washington County, was traveling southbound on the same highway.
