Alleged shots fired incident in Emporia this week leads to misdemeanor charges
Tuesday night’s alleged shots fired and pursuit incident has led to misdemeanor charges through Lyon County District Court. Juan Medina Cervantes Jr has been charged with single counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm in the Emporia city limits, interference with law enforcement and possession of both marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is set to begin his court process with a first appearance at 1:15 pm Thursday.
Motions hearing ahead in Lyon County drug distribution case
A motions hearing is coming next month in a Lyon County drug distribution case. Michael D Bishop is charged with single counts of possession with intent to distribute up to 100 grams of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of Adderall and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges followed an alleged incident this past October.

Emergency Communications says there are apparently national outage affecting AT&T, T Mobile and Verizon. People needing help, either for calls to 911 or 620-343-4225, are advised to try calling out using the respective WiFi network. Customers may have to use different service providers to make these calls.

Commissioners approved two months of interim quality assurance reviews from Priority Dispatch relating to the county’s medical and fire calls. Emergency Communications Director Roxanne Van Gundy says this will be in place with the department’s quality assurance supervisor on maternity leave.
