N. Charleston Police turn to virtual reality training to better prepare officers
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - North Charleston police officers have a new, innovative way to train to better prepare for high-stress scenarios. When an officer steps inside the new VirTra virtual reality simulator, the 360-degree immersive environment replicates real-life situations, and anything from an active shooter to a domestic violence incident is fair game. The training makes it feel real for officers and gets their heart rate up, which officials say can sometimes affect how they handle a situation.
