    Pedestrian dead in collision with train on Hwy 174 Sunday night

    CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a freight train late Sunday night in the Adams Run community.

    Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to the railroad crossing on Highway 174 between Savannah Highway and Old Jacksonboro Road around 11:30 p.m.

    The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say no one on the train was injured.

    Investigators from the agency’s traffic services unit responded and are investigating the incident.

    The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim when appropriate.
