Kankakee Valley Superintendent Elected President of Indiana Small and Rural Schools Association
In Wheatfield, the Superintendent of the Kankakee Valley School Corporation is now president of the Indiana Small and Rural Schools Association (ISRSA). Don Street was elected during the organization’s annual meeting this month Tuesday October 6, 2026, and steps into the statewide leadership role after serving the previous two years as vice-president. Street, who’s led KV Schools since 2019, began his career in education as a teacher in 1991, and has a total of 13 years experience as a superintendent. In his new role, Street will lead organization meetings and guide critical policy discussions impacting more than 180 school corporations across Indiana. “While ISRSA members help identify key issues and priorities, the Board of Directors makes final decisions, with the President playing a central role in steering that decision-making process. Additionally, Street will work closely with and provide oversight to ISRSA Executive Director Christopher Lagoni, assisting in evaluating and identifying service-member partners that advance the organization’s mission,” a news release said.

Undefeated Danville defeated Lebanon 42-13 in the sectional opener, pulling away with a decisive second-quarter run. Lebanon scored in the first half and again late, but couldn’t overcome missed opportunities and Danville’s ability to capitalize. The loss ends the Tigers’ season, though coach Josh Roder said the team made progress and gained valuable experience from younger players.

Letter: Yes on WWS referendum
I’m voting yes on the Westfield Washington Schools referendum and I urge my fellow Westfield residents to do the same. Since kindergarten, my son has had the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive in Westfield Washington Schools. Today, he’s a sophomore and I’m grateful for the excellent educational experience he’s received. Every child in Westfield deserves that same opportunity.
