Boulder, Colorado - To provide financial assistance to lower-income residents, the city of Boulder has launched its annual food tax rebate program. Under this initiative, eligible residents can receive one-time payments ranging from $99 to $302, designed to compensate for the city sales tax on food purchases.

The application period for 2023 is officially open and will continue until June 30, 2023. Each year, Boulder residents can claim rebates to offset the taxes paid on food, providing some relief to their household budgets.

To qualify for the program, income levels play a significant role. The income must not exceed $43,900 for individuals, while the threshold for a family of four is $62,700. Households of two or three individuals should have incomes below $50,200 and $56,450, respectively.

Additionally, applicants must fulfill one of the following criteria: being 62 years or older, having a disability, or having children under 18 residing in the household during 2022.

It's worth noting that individuals without permanent shelter can also qualify for the rebate by providing documentation demonstrating that they are receiving services from a city-recognized homelessness services agency. This provision ensures that even those facing housing challenges can avail themselves of the refund.

The annual income requirement for eligibility varies, with the lower limit set at $43,000 for individuals and the upper limit reaching $82,800 for a family of eight. Detailed information about the program can be found on the official website.

Residents who meet the criteria and have yet to apply can claim their tax relief before the June 30 deadline. It is advisable to act promptly to ensure the timely submission of applications and secure the available benefits for eligible households.
