Beautiful start to the weekend despite morning fog
We'll start the day with some patchy fog but look forward to sunshine today with temperatures near 80 this afternoon, a beautiful day to get outside. More clouds move in heading into tonight with scattered showers moving through. Temperatures drop into the mid 50s by tomorrow morning. Rain moves out with partly cloudy skies through our Sunday, temperatures will be cooler tomorrow only topping out in the mid 60s which is near normal. The forecast won't give much trouble for anyone with Cinco de Mayo plans this weekend, the only rain to plan around will be overnight so most won't be impacted. Monday is still dry with warmer temperatures, more active weather returns Tuesday with a storm threat Tuesday into Wednesday, the greatest threat as of right now looks to be overnight.

Former teacher held on child seduction charge
GOSHEN — The former assistant theater director for Bethany Christian Schools is accused of having a sexual relationship with an underage student. Kyle Snyder, 26, is charged with five counts of child seduction as a Level 5 felony after his arrest Tuesday. Police say he had an inappropriate relationship with a student for about a year, until her parents reported him in late April.
City plans in-house road project
ELKHART — A city roadway improvement project starting early Monday morning will use a nonstop construction schedule in hopes of limiting inconvenience to motorists. The improvement project on Johnson Street between Bristol Street and Beardsley Avenue will be done entirely in-house by the Elkhart Public Works & Utilities Department. The in-house project will save the city about $17 million.
Smoke shop robbery suspect appears in court
GOSHEN — An Elkhart woman has been arrested on a warrant charging her with robbing a tobacco shop and leaving a clerk with a bloody nose last year. Lorain Childs, 29, was recently arrested on a warrant issued in September charging her with robbery resulting in injury as a Level 3 felony. Her charges also include battery as a Level 6 felony.

Meth possession charge follows arrest on parole warrant
ELKHART — An Elkhart man was arrested for drug possession following a foot chase with police. Aaron Bradley Jr., 34, is charged with possession of 28 or more grams of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony, following his arrest last week. He also faces counts of resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia as misdemeanors.
