The Storey County Sheriff's Office is deploying extra deputies this weekend around Virginia City as part of a joining forces campaign during the Virginia City Grand Prix. Reno firefighters say they have contained a house fire in the neighborhood off Mayberry Drive and Fourth Street near the Truckee River. Paramedics say no one was hurt. Stormy Weather Friday, with Rain, Thunder, and Chilly Temps
It’s the end of April and snow is possible in the Sierra Thursday night through Friday. The snow level will drop to 6500’ late Thursday night and stay there for much of Friday. The snow will be slushy and travel impacts will be minor. Friday will be chilly in the valley with temperatures in the mid to upper 50’s. There is also a fifty percent chance of rain in the Truckee Meadows on Friday, with rain, lightning, and ice pellets possible with any showers that do develop. Good news though, the system will be out of here by Saturday, making for a great weekend.

Cooler, unsettled weather is in the forecast through early Saturday. Valleys will see showers with a few T-storms possible. Rain and snow showers are likely in the Sierra. The weather will recover and start to warm through the rest of the weekend, with valley 70s likely through the middle of next week. Another storm system is possible after Wednesday. -Jeff.
NV Energy to begin gas line replacement in Sparks
SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - NV Energy will begin work on a gas line replacement in Sparks this Monday. Phase 1 of the project will begin April 29, when crews will be working at the alley intersection of 10th Street and Victorian Plaza Circle. Road closures will take place on those roads as well.
