'The beautiful coverup': How Torrington turned tragedy into triumph
TORRINGTON – For many years, the city of Torrington and the Torrington Rotary Club have joined together to turn a series of tragic events into a special project which many of us in the community enjoy today. Phase one of the program began in 1971 when the project, “The Beautiful Cover-up,” was promoted as community action to “do something” about the 13-block-long open irrigation ditch which ran through the residential portion of town, and further plans for improvements still continue today. ...
Natrona’s Bailey Watson Commits to Eastern Wyoming for Golf
Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington is starting a women's golf program this fall and one of their inaugural signees is Bailey Watson of Natrona. She has displayed steady improvement in her prep career and that's the name of the game. In her sophomore year, she placed 16th at the 4A State Tournament and then finished 11th at State in her junior year with rounds of 87 and 91. She also finished 11th at the 2023 State Tourney with rounds of 89 and 99.

Standouts in girls’ track and boys’ soccer are the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week winners for April 17, 2024. The girls’ honor went to Buffalo senior Carly Norman. The boys’ award went to Lingle-Ft. Laramie/Torrington sophomore Anthony Arnusch. They were chosen for outstanding performances from April 8 through April 13, 2024.
Dogies take two rough losses
The Dogies had a schedule of tough opponents to take on last week, beginning with the No. 1-ranked Torrington Trailblazers at home on Thursday, then they traveled to Buffalo on Saturday to take on the Bison. Head coach Sally Hoover’s squad played tough on Thursday, making the ‘Blazers fight for every one of their goals in their close 1-3 loss, then faltered on defense against the Bison, which Buffalo used to shut out Newcastle 5-0.
