19-year-old killed in late night shooting
Bellaire, OH — 21-year-old Brian Melott has been arrested on charges of murder in Belmont County. On Saturday evening, the Bellaire Police Department responded to the area of 700 41st Street apartments for shots fired. The 19-year-old victim was found with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Officers and EMS provided medical attention to the victim, who later passed away. Melott is being held in the Belmont County jail on a charge of murder without bail. A court proceeding is anticipated this Monday, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Community unites to uncover historical remnants of beloved Ohio Valley General Hospital
WHEELING, WV — Members from the Wheeling community and surrounding areas came together to witness a small glimpse from the past. The Ohio Valley General Hospital, a 200-bed hospital in Wheeling, was established in the 1980s. Accompanying its inception was the City Hospital Training School for Nurses, the first nursing school in West Virginia. In 1973, the hospital's name was changed to Ohio Valley Medical Center to better encompass its expanding services and staff. In 2019, the hospital was then closed.
