PLEASANT VALLEY β A fire in a large detached garage on Salt Point Turnpike Friday brought the Pleasant Valley and Roosevelt Fire Departments to the scene just before 8 p.m. and closed the road for a while. Firefighters worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading to the house which is located less than five feet away from the wooden garage.

The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 125 Reagans Mill Road in Dover around 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 25. According to Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, Ellen R. Travis of Dover, died as a result of the fire and was pronounced dead at the scene.
