Kansas woman donates 11 handmade blankets to local sheriff's office
RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - A Kansas sheriff recently thanked a citizen for her donation of handmade blankets to the department. The Reno County Sheriff's Office says Diane Kibby, a Hutchinson resident, recently donated 11 handmade blankets to the patrol division. The sheriff's office says the blankets will be placed with our deputies in their vehicles to help comfort kids in crisis or with critically emotional situations.
Koch, Kansas All Star Big Band offering a night of swing in Wilson
Twenty-eight years of the Kansas Sampler Festival came to a close in 2017. The Big Kansas Road Trip was started by Kansas Sampler in 2018 to keep the community connection going. Two or three counties are featured each year, and the 2024 season includes Ellsworth and Lincoln counties. Great Bend's Kurtis Koch and the Kansas All Star Big Band will provide the free entertainment Saturday, May 4 from 7-10 p.m. at the Historic Midland Railroad Hotel in Wilson.

Lady Panthers win thriller, drop game two against McPherson
Katherine Mazouch was the hero a couple times last year as a freshman on the Lady Panther softball team. She reclaimed her title Friday afternoon in Salina after delivering a game-winning double in the sixth inning. The Lady Panthers held on to beat Salina South 6-5. Great Bend dropped game two to McPherson 6-0.
