Taylorville Police Department is urging you to come out to the 3rd annual Cops, Coffee, Cold Scoops event! The event will be taking place Friday evening from 5 PM to 8 PM. Christian County Sheriff's Office squad struck by driver while stopped on IL Route 48
CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - A Christian County Sheriff's Office squad car was struck by a driver while stopped on Illinois Route 48 near Willeys Sunday. Two deputies in separate squad cars were pulled off the side of the highway, with their emergency lights activated when another vehicle traveling northbound on IL Route 48 came up and struck one of the squad cars.

Gary Lin McWard, 71 of Taylorville, passed away at 6:03 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, surrounded by his family in his home. He was born on August 18, 1952, in Taylorville, the son of James and Dorothy (Burke) McWard. He married Brenda Pieper on February 13, 2004. Gary proudly served our country with a distinguished career with the United States Marine Corps., serving in Desert Storm and stationed in California, Hawaii, and Okinawa, Japan. In 2000 he retired from military service as a Gunnery Sergeant, completing a 22-year career. Gary was very proud of his time serving his country and was passionate the rest of his life about supporting and honoring others who served. Following his time in the service he managed Jordy’s Restaurant and owned and operated the American Tap in Taylorville. Gary will be remembered for his love of people and was affectionately known by his friends as “Mac” or “Gunny”. He loved playing pool and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini basketball.

She was born on August 9, 1966, in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Michael Dennis Nation Sr. and Kathy (Eson) Galvin. Angela was a graduate of the Taylorville High School class of 1984 and she worked at Horace Mann for 31 years and the State Board of Education for 6 years.
