The long-serving Zephyrhills police officer for who retired as the city’s police chief in 2002 has died. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of retired Zephyrhills Police Department Chief Robert Howell,” the city said in a announcement Wednesday afternoon. He died Tuesday at the age of 86.
Stolen trailer found parked in Spring Hill man's front yard, drugs discovered inside home: Deputies
SPRING HILL, Fla. - A Spring Hill man was arrested on Monday after deputies say he stole a 6-by-10-foot trailer from a local business. According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, a woman reported that the trailer was stolen from her business located on the 5100 block of Commercial Way.
New rules for boaters, kayakers on Weeki Wachee River now in effect
SPRING HILL, Fla. — New rules for boaters and kayakers are now being enforced on one of Florida’s favorite waterways. Hernando County, FWC and community leaders were on hand Thursday to unveil and post new signs designating a 5.6-mile stretch of the beautiful Weeki Wachee River as a “Springs Protection Zone.” Anchoring, mooring, beaching and grounding of boats or kayaks in the river is now prohibited from Rogers Park through the state park.
A new food hall and brewery is coming to Pasco County this summer
This summer, a new food hall is opening in Trinity, the small city that’s at the intersection of Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. The Collective at Escape is from John McGregor and Matt Thompson, the owners of Trinity-based Escape Brewing Company. It will also be the new location of the brewery, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in September.
