Hatteras ferry crew honored for life-saving January rescue of two men and a dog
Dare County, NC — A Hatteras ferry crew was honored for a heroic rescue that took place in January of this year. Earlier today, the Department of Transportation recognized the M/V Hatteras crew that rescued two men and a dog back on Jan. 12, 2024 from rough conditions in Hatteras Inlet.

Double red flags on OBX beaches this summer mean swimming is unlawful
NAGS HEAD, N.C. — Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks are rolling out a new flag system to improve warnings of surf conditions for beachgoers. Under Nags Head Ocean Rescue's new system, yellow flags indicate a medium hazard with moderate surf and/or currents present. Weak swimmers are discouraged from getting into the water, while others should use extra care and caution.
