Mason City man killed in car/semi collision on I-35
CERRO GORDO COUNTY, Iowa - One person is dead after a car and semi collided Saturday night on Interstate 35 in North Iowa. The State Patrol says the crash happened around 11:19 pm near mile marker 194 in Cerro Gordo County. The crash report says a car diven by Glen Evan Hemming, 56 of Mason City, was going north in the southbound lanes of I-35 when it smashed into a southbound semi driven by Hussein Ali Haidar, 40 of Burnsville, Minnesota.
Mason City police searching for theft suspect
(ABC 6 News) – The Mason City Police Department is looking for the public’s help to locate a woman suspected of stealing from a local store. Police posted images from the store’s surveillance cameras of the woman with a cart full of groceries and other household items.
Tracking a wet and active weekend
For our Friday, clouds will begin moving in, bringing our first round of showers. Widespread light to moderate rain showers are expected through the morning commute. Storm activity looks to pick up coming into the late morning/early afternoon. On-and-off showers and storms will continue through the evening. Most of our area remains under a Level 1 (Marginal Risk) for severe weather on Friday. There will be a break in the storms for the first half of Saturday before another severe risk moves in during the evening/night. All forms of severe weather from damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes will be possible. This active weather pattern will continue through the beginning of the next work week with chances for strong storms and heavy rain.
