One arrested after high-risk search warrant served near rural Kansas school
WILLIAMSBURG, Kan. (KCTV) - One man is behind bars after he allegedly refused to exit a home for an “extended period of time” near a rural Kansas school. The Franklin County, Kan., Sheriff’s Office says that on Friday morning, April 26, law enforcement officials were sent to the 100 block of E. Warren St. in Williamsburg with a high-risk search warrant in hand. The warrant was issued in connection to a Northeast Kansas Drug Taskforce investigation which remains ongoing.

MIAMI COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating three suspects on multiple allegations after a weekend arrest. Just after 6.m. Saturday, a landowner reported turkeys being poached off his property in rural Miami County, according to a social media report from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Game Wardens.
Wichita man arrested for possession of meth following traffic stop in Osage County
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Wichita man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop in Osage County. According to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office, an Osage County K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation around 2:04 p.m. on Monday, April 22 at milepost 159 on I-35.
Lightning strike knocks out Bucyrus storm siren
It could cost Miami County more than $30,000 to replace a storm siren in Bucyrus that recently was fried by a lightning strike. Undersheriff Matt Kelly said the damage was discovered during the county’s monthly storm siren test earlier this month.
Fire destroys barn built in 1882
A late-night fire on the evening of Thursday, April 18, destroyed a barn north of Fontana that was built in 1882, but no injuries were reported. Firefighters from Fontana, Osawatomie, Paola and Louisburg were dispatched to the barn fire at 20860 W. 363rd St. north of Fontana at 11:46 p.m. April 18, according to a report from Miami County Emergency Management Coordinator Mark Whelan.
Two firefighters suffer minor injuries while battling house fire
Two Osawatomie firefighters recently suffered minor injuries when a firefighter fell through a floor while battling a house fire near Fontana. Firefighters from Osawatomie, Fontana, Paola and Louisburg were dispatched to a house fire at 38519 Hedge Lane near Fontana at 3:58 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, according to a report from Miami County Emergency Management Coordinator Mark Whelan.
