Good Day Good Dog: Taffy!
LUBBOCK, Texas (KJTV) - From ARCC:. Meet Taffy, a 3-year-old pit bull mix with a heart as big as her 50-pound frame. Taffy’s journey began in Lockney, Texas, where she was found as a stray in June of 2021. One of our dedicated volunteers spotted her near the Lockney pound, where she was seeking food and shelter. It was soon discovered that Taffy had been abandoned, though kind-hearted locals had been feeding and looking out for her.
Floyd County Well Represented in College Station at State Roundup
COLLEGE STATION, TX – The Floyd County 4-H State Roundup took place in College Station with members of Floyd County being represented throughout the week of events. Floyd County had 12 senior 4-H members compete in a variety of contests during the week. Those competing in contests throughout the week include Brailey Kidd, Sydni Chesshir, Cristian Mendez, Adrian Jimenez, Cutter Evans, Pea Shuping, Kaileigh Cook, John Taylor Snowden, Mia Snowden, Sierra Snowden, Haygen Lefevre and Brinley Lefevre. The contests include rifle, educational presentations, fashion, archery, ag product identification, livestock judging and healthy lifestyle ambassador training.
Ag Journal: Water Conservation
For this week’s Ag Journal, KLBK’S Kathryn Campbell talks to Michelle Cooper with the South Plains Underground Water Conservation District. She is the Education Coordinator for three districts and has an ambassador program going on. The goal is to get the youth involved in the water works and maintain jobs within. Cooper also highlights the South Plains UWCD’s ultimate mission, which is simply making people aware of their water resources and to think in terms of water savings. She even gives some tips for how you can cut your water bill at home:

Multiple tornadoes touch down in Panhandle
SILVERTON — More severe weather threats were present on Sunday as the National Weather Service issued a series of tornado warnings throughout the Panhandle region. The NWS office in Lubbock disseminated a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Swisher and Briscoe counties around midday Sunday that progressed into a tornado watch just before 8 p.m. Meanwhile, the NWS office in Amarillo issued its own tornado warning starting around 7:15 p.m. that threatened the town of Sanford in Hutchinson County.

Lockney Hospital Board Receives Clean Audit for FY23
LOCKNEY, TX – A clean audit was the word recently reported to members of the Lockney General Hospital District. Meeting in late April, the board heard from Durbin & Company regarding their annual audit, which resulted in total assets of $4,618,868, net operating revenue for FY23 of $10,298,144 plus total nonoperating revenue of $2,040,377, operating expenses of $12,317,221 for a net increase of $178,300 for the year.

Vermont police conclude case of dead baby more than 40 years later and say no charges will be filed
NORTHFIELD, Vt. (AP) — More than 40 years after some Vermont children waiting for a school bus discovered a dead baby off the side of the road, state police have announced that they found the infant’s parents and no charges will be filed. Police say the dead infant was found in Northfield on April 1, 1982. In recent years DNA testing helped find the parents. The father told police he left Vermont for an extended period in 1982 and did not know about the pregnancy or disposal of the deceased baby. The mother admitted she unlawfully disposed of the deceased infant after she didn’t know she was pregnant, gave birth and the baby did not survive.
