Police investigating homicide in East St. Louis
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Police are investigating after one person was killed in a homicide in East St. Louis overnight. According to authorities, the shooting happened around 1 a.m. on North 45th Street. First Alert 4 saw multiple evidence markers on scene, as officers were focussing their investigation around an SUV. One person was pronounced dead at the scene as well.

According to police, the suspect stopped two men in the area of North 2nd and Morgan around 11 p.m. on Friday and asked for a cigarette. The suspect then pulled out a black handgun and demanded money. As the men handed their wallets to the suspect, the suspect punched them in the face multiple times, knocking them to the ground.
