VCHS Distracted/Impaired Driving Re-enactment
Valley City High School is collaborating with local, county and state emergency responders to provide a re-enactment of a car crash scene involving students. This event is meant to serve as an awareness event to help our students understand the very powerful reality of how quickly accidents can happen especially when it involves distracted or impaired driving risk factors. This is important message for our young people any time, but especially as we move into the spring and summer seasons that include prom, graduation, and outdoor parties.
Amazing Backpack Giveaway Fundraiser May 5th
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The New Life Assembly of God Church in Valley City will host the annual Amazing Backpack Giveaway fundraiser at the church on Winter Show Road Sunday, May 5th from 5pm to 7pm. The fundraiser is a free will offering meal of pulled pork sandwiches, deluxe pasta salad, potato chips, lemonade, and water. There will also be a bake sale. Dine-in or Take-out.

Valley City Road Reconstruction Closure Notification
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (KLJ) – Construction Notice –Paving Improvement District 125 – 2nd Ave NE/4th St NE and 3rd St NE/3rd Ave NE Street Reconstruction Phase 1 of Paving Improvement District 125 was substantially completed in 2023. This work included 2nd Ave NE from 2nd St NE to 5th St NE and 4th St NE from 2nd Ave NE to approximately 3rd Ave NE. Landscaping and street lighting will be completed in 2024. These corridors will remain open throughout construction in 2024.
LWV Local Election Forum May 14 in Valley City

VCSU Concert Choir, and University Singers Spring Concert

(VCSU) – The Valley City State University Concert Choir and University Singers will present the spring choral concert in the Center for the Arts Performance Hall on Friday, May 3, at 7:30 pm. Admission to the concert is free, and donations to support the work of the ensembles are welcome.
Rising Gas Prices May Plateau Soon
(NAFB.com) – After weeks of paying higher prices, those increases at the gas pump may be nearing a halt as refineries complete the transition from winter to summer gas blends. The changing fuel blends come with the changing seasons. Depending on the calendar, gas prices can be more expensive based on the blend drivers choose to use. “As the nationwide changeover to summer gasoline is now behind us, at least one of the three factors that had been actively causing prices to rise in the last couple of months is behind us,” says Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy. “The largest pain point is refinery maintenance, and that will take a few more weeks to complete.” He also says production output should increase as that work finishes, which will likely put downward pressure on gas prices. Triple A says the distinction between summer and winter fuel is how easily it evaporates based on the temperature.
Brief Shelter-in-Place Thursday Afternoon for Valley City Jr/Sr High
VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Junior-Senior High School went into a shelter-in-place situation briefly Thursday as crews responded to a gas leak. The school was notified of the leak on Fourth Street North around 2:15 PM. According to a release from Valley City Public Schools, students were put into a shelter-in-place to keep everyone from leaving the building and away from the leak.
