Lakeland Union shuts out Rhinelander on the road to take control of the Great Northern Conference
RHINELANDER, Wis. (WJFW)- One score has been synonymous with Lakeland Union and Rhinelander the past two seasons: 1-0. Lakeland Union beat Rhinelander 1-0 the first two times those teams faced off last season, with the T-Birds sweeping the Hodags to clinch the Great Northern Conference title. However, in the playoffs, Rhinelander beat Lakeland Union 1-0 to end the T-Birds' season and send their rival home packing. Now, these two teams faced off for the first time this season, and, you guessed it, the final score was 1-0. The Hodags came into this matchup with a 7-0-2 overall record, undefeated in regulation for this season. In conference play, Rhinelander was 3-0-0-1, with their lone loss coming to Medford in PK's. The Hodags hold 10 points in the conference standings, putting them in first place in the Great Northern Conference.
