Individual steals $115K in property from Oak Park residence
Someone broke into an Oak Park residence between April 26 and April 27 on the 800 block of Lake Street and stole an estimated $115,850 worth of money and property. The individual stole a Goyard wallet containing credit and debit cards, a driver’s license, other identification and money. The person also stole a Cartier money clip, a silver watch and two sets of keys, which they used to steal the Oak Park resident’s black 2024 Audi A8 from the garage.

Aldi heads to Forest Park
Aldi grocery store will open in the former Bed Bath and Beyond building at 215 Harlem Avenue, according to the Village of Forest Park. “The Village is very excited to welcome Aldi, one of the fastest-growing grocers in the U.S., to Forest Park,” Village Administrator Rachell Entler said in an email. “The addition of Aldi will add a grocery store to the North side of town, giving residents of Forest Park, Oak Park and River Forest another affordable food retailer option.”
River Forest officials, fire union reach agreement
River Forest firefighter/paramedics and lieutenants will receive 3.25% annual salary increases under three-year contracts approved by the village board April 29. Officials and the union representing firefighter/paramedics and lieutenants agreed on the new contracts before the current contracts expired on April 30. The contracts with the International Association of Firefighters Local 2391 were approved without discussion as part of the consent agenda. Separate contracts represent 15 firefighter/paramedics and four lieutenants. The union members voted to ratify the contract April 23.
