Gamblers, Steel split weekend set
The Green Bay Gamblers scored 11 goals across two days, but it was only good for one win out of two games against the Chicago Steel. In Friday's 6-5 loss to the Steel in front of 3,500 fans at the Resch Center, the Gamblers clawed their way back from a 4-1 deficit to force a shoot out. Four players had multi-point games for the Gamblers, including two goals from Libor Nemec and Blake Bechen.
Warhawks defense results in victory
UW-Whitewater women’s basketball secured a 73-54 win over Wheaton. This win kept the No. 5 Warhawks undefeated as they carried on with their hot start to the season. The scoring would start off with a Warhawk three from Bri McCurdy. Wheaton would answer with a basket of their own. But that’s the closest Wheaton would get to taking the lead as the Warhawks would run away with it early. Whitewater would go on a couple of runs in the first quarter with no answers from Wheaton with the score being 20-11. Wheaton would try to hang in there but were not able to contain Whitewater’s Kacie Carollo who started the game shooting 5-5. Whitewater’s defense held Wheaton to 10% from three and 22% from the field in the first half. The Warahwks would head into halftime with a 38-20 lead.
Carollo threatens triple-double in big UW-Whitewater win over Wheaton
After taking a full week off between games, UW-Whitewater didn’t skip a beat Saturday. The Warhawks enjoyed a wire-to-wire 73-45 victory over nonconference opponent Wheaton (Illinois) at Kachel Gymnasium in Whitewater to improve their record to 9-0 on the season. Whitewater’s defense kept the Thunder from getting rolling through the first three quarters. The visitors could only muster 29 points going into the final period made just 1 of 12...

ETHS boys basketball: Seniors show the way to shootout victory
Evanston’s basketball program hasn’t always put its best foot forward competing at the Team Rose Shootout event. The Wildkits lost in their past two trips to the shootout hosted by Mount Carmel High School, and those losses to Bloom (50-48 in 2021) and Marian Catholic (57-45 in 2022) were close to the low points of those respective seasons.
