Flying plants and a stolen vehicle in Oxford
Between April 22 and April 29, Oxford police responded to 18 incidents, according to the Oxford Police Department’s reports. On April 23 at 5:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 10 block of S. Poplar St. for a burglary. The caller said that they heard an unknown person in their apartment. The officers searched the apartment but did not find anyone. There is no known suspect at this time.

Young Wayne County man gets 55 years for killing his father
RICHMOND, Ind. — A young Wayne County man convicted of killing his father has been sentenced to 55 years in prison. A Wayne Superior Court 1 jury in February found James Beau Burkhart, 19, of Centerville, guilty of murder in the December 2020 shooting death of 51-year-old James Jason Burkhart.
Budget symposium 2024: Miami looks to diversify as tuition revenue falls
After a $36 million budget deficit from last fiscal year, Miami University’s annual budget symposium brought news of a lower, but still existent, deficit. “While Miami University’s overall financial performance last year was good, education and general spending exceeded its revenue by $10.3 million, and required a reduction in the reserves overseen by the Provost,” one of the presentation’s slides read.
