Suburban bakery revives its ‘cicada cakes' as double-brood invasion nears
Trillions of red-eyed periodical cicadas have started emerging in parts of the country, although Illinois isn't seeing any just yet. But it's only a matter of time - as many cicadas have been discovered just below ground. Cicadas are safe to eat for most people, according to the Cleveland Clinic. But one specific cicada is likely more appetizing than the rest.

This is a mid-afternoon picture from the Chicago Water Intake (Harrison Crib) showing a layer of fog (cloud) that appeared very briefly as a warm front lifted over the city. Here at the water intake, At 3 pm, the wind was northeast at 7 mph with a temperature of 50.5°. Then the warm front blasted through, the wind turned to the south and dramatically increased with a peak gust of 44 mph. At 4 pm, the temperature had risen 22° to 72.5°, the south wind was a steady 36.7 mph with a peak gust of 41.6 mph. The dewpoint was 12° higher than the temperature was an hour ago. Update – the actual temperature rise here at the water intake was 24° – from 50.5° at 3 pm to 74.5° at 4 pm.
