Tracking yet another round of rainfall along with seasonable temperatures
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -- We’re beginning the month of May with yet another round of rainfall moving through. Rain tonight will pick up in intensity and will continue into Thursday morning. The heaviest totals will be found in the eastern parts of the area which could result in an inch or more of additional precipitation. While flash flooding is not expected, some ponding on roadways are possible since we are very saturated.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Initial damage surveys show that at least 10 tornadoes struck the Omaha area last Friday, half of those being EF-3 tornadoes. That data comes from folks like Todd Heitkamp, the Meteorologist-In-Charge at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, who is called upon when more powerful tornadoes hit to assess the damage.

Storms have moved away but more rain coming
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -- We’ll see a few rain chances again Wednesday and Thursday. There are more chances for light rain even for Friday. Highs will gradually cool off heading through the end of this week with most of us falling into the upper 50s and low 60s by Friday. There’s a slight chance for some showers this weekend but highs should be back in the upper 60s by Sunday.
Schools keeping an eye on storm potential at dismissal time
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux Falls School District officials say they are monitoring the afternoon weather forecast. The storms were expected to reach the Sioux Falls area around 2:45pm. Because of that, SFSD says it will hold all elementary students who walk or ride the bus. As of 2:54 p.m., the district said the main threat from the weather had decreased so elementary bus routes would start around 3 p.m.
