Warming up, with rain chances increasing
(KFVS) - Good morning, Heartland, temperatures are warming up today with highs reaching mid to upper 80s by this afternoon. Partly cloudy conditions are expected throughout the day, however, with the daytime heating, there is a chance for pop-up isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. Most of the Heartland will remain dry throughout the day. It will also start getting pretty humid throughout the day, and the rest of the week. By tomorrow, temperatures will start in the low 60s and return to the mid to upper 80s. It will be slightly more breezy, and the chance for isolated afternoon thunderstorms will return. By Friday, chances for scattered thunderstorms return, but temperatures will dip back into the upper 70s.
Sikeston City Council approves Safe Haven Baby Box installation
SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - Sikeston City Council has approved the installation of a Safe Haven Baby Box at the new fire station during Monday’s City Council meeting. A Safe Haven Baby Box is a climate-controlled, alarmed box that can be accessed 24/7 from the outside of the building where an infant may be safely surrendered by a parent in crisis. Currently, this would only be the second box in the state of Missouri, with the other being in St. Louis.
