Windsor County Sheriff's Deportment to patrol in Tunbridge
TUNBRIDGE, Vt. (WCAX) - The Windsor Country Sheriff’s Department has picked up another patrolling contract with a town in a neighboring county. The select board in the Orange County Town of Tunbridge has agreed to a $50,000 one-year contract with the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department. That contract, which starts July 1st, will pay for about 15 patrol hours a week. Windsor deputies already patrol in nearby Chelsea. Officials from both towns say the orange county sheriff’s department simply didn’t have the resources to suit their needs and say the Windsor county department is a good fit.
Vt. sheriff’s deputy who caused mistrial loses job
BARRE, Vt. (WCAX) - A Windsor County sheriff’s deputy who caused a mistrial in Barre back in March has lost his job. Cpl. Mark Belisle provided security at the Washington County court in February during the sexual assault trial of Kasey Giorgio, who was found guilty. But in March, the judge ruled Belisle made inappropriate comments to a juror, which tainted the trial’s outcome. A mistrial was declared and Belisle was placed on administrative leave.

Lawsuit accuses Norwich University of sex-based employment discrimination, retaliation
MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Norwich University faces a civil lawsuit accusing the school’s former president and another top official of employment discrimination. The lawsuit filed on Monday in Washington County Court was brought by Elizabeth Kennedy, a 13-year employee who worked most recently as the private military school’s vice president of development and alumni relations. It says Kennedy repeatedly blew the whistle on her boss, former Norwich President Mark Anarumo, for “years of misconduct and creation of sex-based discriminatory employment conditions.”
