FIRST WARN WEATHER: Monday looks beautiful with sunshine and highs near 70
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - We had quite a busy weekend with rain and thunderstorms in the region. Some spots to the south of KC, like Linn, Bates and Henry counties saw a significant amount of rain, so there could still be minor flooding into Sunday night. Radar estimated over 6-8″ of rain in localized spots, with 2-3″ inches in the metro over the last two days. The rest of Sunday should be mainly dry, but as a weak cold front comes in, there could be one more quick shower or thunderstorm out ahead of that front. There is not much of a severe threat. Overnight, the front comes in and winds switch out of the west. Lows will be cool in the upper 40s early Monday. Mostly sunny skies are expected on Monday, and afternoon highs will be near 70 degrees. Humidity looks lower as well! We get to dry out for Monday and most of Tuesday, but our next chance for thunderstorms comes Tuesday evening. We are still gathering details on this, but there are some ingredients in place for stronger thunderstorms. Right now, a Slight Risk (level 2/5) is in place along and north of I-70. We put a First Warn in place for Tuesday with this thunderstorm chance. There is also another chance for a few showers and storms on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will bounce around in the 70s and lower 80s early in the week, with a little cool down by Friday with a stronger cold front late week. Highs will be in the mid-60s Friday. Next weekend looks comfortable right now in the lower 70s!
