Niagara County: Man pleads guilty to manslaughter, robbery
Submitted by the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office. Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Rohmelo K. Lewis, age 24, of Niagara Falls, plead guilty in County Court this week to the crimes of manslaughter in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. Lewis admitted to killing Herbert Horton, age 55, who had recently relocated to Niagara Falls, in the course of a robbery on May 3, 2022. The plea came on the eve of a trial where Lewis faced charges of Horton’s murder as well as other robberies that occurred in the days preceding.
New taproom opening in the City of Lockport
LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The historic Lock District in the City of Lockport will soon host a new taproom and carryout bottle shop. The Lock Tender will take 1,300 square feet of ground floor commercial space at 4 Lock St., part of a multi-use development that includes three upper apartments and two storefronts on the main level. There will be a 12-seat bar and indoor seating for about 100 as well as outdoor space for corn hole and live music. With no plans for a full kitchen, the group plans to work with local partners for food offerings.

Tops acquires 5 Buffalo-area stores
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Tops Friendly Markets is adding five more local stores to its portfolio. The Williamsville-based brand recently acquired five store locations from Supermarket Management Inc., a franchise partner. The stores include full-service Tops spots in Depew, South Buffalo, Lockport and on Buffalo’s West Side, along with a Tops Xpress store in Lancaster, according to a press release.
Man accused of making bomb threat on Western New York hospital arraigned
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Genesee County man has been arraigned on felony charges for threats he allegedly made against a local hospital. The man, 31-year-old Lordseth Phoenix of Corfu, is accused of calling 911 and claiming a bomb would be placed in the parking garage of the Buffalo General Medical Center.
