One arrested after high-risk search warrant served near rural Kansas school
WILLIAMSBURG, Kan. (KCTV) - One man is behind bars after he allegedly refused to exit a home for an “extended period of time” near a rural Kansas school. The Franklin County, Kan., Sheriff’s Office says that on Friday morning, April 26, law enforcement officials were sent to the 100 block of E. Warren St. in Williamsburg with a high-risk search warrant in hand. The warrant was issued in connection to a Northeast Kansas Drug Taskforce investigation which remains ongoing.
PHS seniors receive more than $334,000 in scholarships
PAOLA — Several Paola High School seniors received a big financial boost toward their future goals during the school’s annual scholarship awards night Wednesday, April 24. A total of $334,650 in scholarship money was given out to seniors, including $163,900 in local scholarships, $141,250 in USD 368 Endowment scholarships including current year renewable values, and $29,500 in Endowment scholarships including prior year renewables, according to numbers provided by Paola USD 368 Director of Finance Jimmy Hay.

Freya Barnes crowned princess at national rabbit show
Nine-year-old Freya Barnes of Paola was crowned the 2024 National Mini Rex Princess during the National Mini Rex Rabbit Club’s show in Hutchinson, Kan. The national show took place April 5-7 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, and Freya competed in multiple contests and showed her Mini Rex rabbits in two separate shows.
Paola school board considering streaming meetings
PAOLA – Paola USD 368 is considering options for recording and streaming school board meetings, and a survey recently was sent to parents asking for public feedback. The school district recently got a quote for equipping the board room at the central services building for video recording, but when district officials learned it could cost nearly $50,000, they began looking for other alternatives, Superintendent Matt Meek said.
