ELLSWORTH — An opportunity to better understand the breadth of human trafficking in Iowa drew nearly 100 people last week to Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Ray Fiedler and Paul Gardner presented a sobering 90-minute program on the serious — and growing — situation in the state.

Caretaker of a man who was scalded in a shower faces sentencing on May 29
A caretaker who pleaded guilty to leaving a special needs man in a scalding shower in Webster City in 2022 will be sentenced May 29 in Hamilton County. Nicholas Brendan Seamonds died on December 20, 2022, as the result of injuries he sustained from “neglect of care” that occurred December 10, 2022, when he was living in specialized housing for someone with his needs.
