Hammond wholesale food company to spend $21 million to buy, renovate building
S&W Wholesale Foods, a Hammond-based company, said it will spend $21 million to purchase and renovate an existing Tangipahoa Parish distribution facility. The work is expected to create 60 construction jobs and retain more than 100 existing jobs, Louisiana Economic Development officials said. The work, which will involve replacing a roof and adding office space to the building, should be completed by the end of the year.
A four-event winning sprinter helped Northlake Christian claim its first regional track title
The Northlake Christian boys track and field team had a plan going into the Region 3-2A championship meet at Tad Gormley Stadium on April 24. It worked to perfection as the Wolverines claimed the school's first-ever regional championship, and senior Ollie Brumfield won four events to claim overall MVP honors.

Hundreds of fentanyl pills hidden in WD-40 can seized in St. Tammany bust, sheriff says
A St. Tammany Parish man has been booked in connection with the possession and distribution of hundreds of pills containing fentanyl, the Sheriff's Office said. The arrest of Derrick McDowell, 24, came after a traffic stop spurred by reports the Sheriff's Office had received that he had been selling drugs in the Covington area. On April 18 near Joseph Road and La. 36, deputies stopped McDowell and found 273 "counterfeit" pills suspected of containing fentanyl, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

HAMMOND, La. — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder that happened Tuesday morning before just before noon in a Hammond apartment complex. Investigators said they received a call to the Tangi Village apartment complex on the West Side of the University Exit near Hammond and Quick Boulevard.
