A prominent local attorney died Monday after being involved in a traffic accident near the Westwood Shopping Plaza last week, a news release said. Richard Thomas Craven, 71, was critically injured in the wreck that happened about 6 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of South McPherson Church Road, the Fayetteville Police Department said.

Help needed finding boy missing for 10+ days, Cumberland County deputies say

Felon nabbed; crack cocaine, guns, $5,000 in cash seized in Fayetteville drug bust, police say
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Fayetteville man is now in custody following a bust involving crack cocaine and guns late last month, police said. According to the Fayetteville Police Department, officers conducted a search warrant on May 30 at a home in the 1000 block of Sun Valley Drive. While searching the residence, officers found nine grams of crack cocaine, three firearms and $5,000 in cash, police said.

Man pleads guilty in 2022 Fayetteville murder of woman fighting with his pregnant girlfriend
A Fayetteville man pleaded guilty Wednesday to the killing of a 22-year-old woman during an altercation with the man's pregnant girlfriend in 2022, court records state. Jaylin Sadiq McLaughlin, 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in the death of Sierra Harper. He was sentenced to between 15 years, 10 months, and 20 years in prison, according to court records.
