Man in custody following standoff near Levant school, police say
LEVANT, Maine — A man has been taken into custody following a standoff with law enforcement in Levant on Wednesday. Penobscot County sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the area of South Levant Road near Levant Elementary School around 10 a.m. for a domestic violence incident involving assault, Penobscot County Sheriff Troy Morton said.
Road closures planned ahead of race through Old Town this weekend

Xisen Guo, 67, is the first to be prosecuted in a sprawling investigation that has seen federal agents from the FBI, DEA, and Department of Homeland Security raid homes in rural Maine suspected of housing large-scale marijuana operations, with possible connections to Chinese criminal organizations.

DEXTER, Maine — A teen from Penobscot County who had been reported missing has been safely located, officials say. Dexter police were working with Maine State Police to locate the 15-year-old, who had last been seen at her home in Dexter around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a 10:28 a.m. release Monday.
