Family members release over a dozen balloons for ‘Jordy,’ a young woman found dead in Dakota Dunes
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - It has been 365 days since 23-year-old, Jordan Beardshear was found dead in her Dakota Dunes apartment. Thursday evening at around 7 p.m., members of the Beardshear family gathered in Calvary Cemetary to release dozens of balloons to honor and celebrate the life and memory of a young woman whom they called “Jordy.”
Candidate for South Dakota House of Representatives arrested
ELK POINT, S.D. (KTIV) - A woman on the ballot for South Dakota’s State House of Representatives was arrested in April after a pursuit. Court documents show Robin Schiro of Elk Point, South Dakota is charged with obstructing an officer, jailer, firefighter. Schiro is currently running for District 17 of South Dakota’s State House of Representatives, which covers parts of Union and Clay County. She is running as a Republican candidate.
Prairie dog hunting ban protects black-footed ferrets
Now, after almost 30 years of temporary prairie dog hunting bans, the U.S. Forest Service will permanently ban prairie dog hunting in an area of the Conata Basin in the Buffalo Gap National Grassland in western South Dakota to protect the black-footed ferret.
