The official start of summer is not until June 20th, but it feels like we should be now in the start of June. Temperatures today will quickly heat up later this morning and into the afternoon. The morning commute will start off in the mid-50s and then we make our climb to the 80-degree mark, which should be reached by around noon. Heading further through the day, highs are going to climb into the upper 80s. We will be very close to the 90-degree mark, but we are not expected to hit that. Speaking of 90, that is our daily high temperature record for today. That was set back in 1959. Typically, we should be around 72 degrees this time of year. Warming trend continues into work week
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - High pressure has given us a nice, sunny, and unseasonably warm day. The record high for today is 88 degrees set in 1956. We are still warming up and are expected to reach the mid 80s which is fairly close to the record. Tonight will be another warm night with temperatures only expected to fall to the low 60s once again which is about 15 degrees above average for this time of year. The reason for the warm night time temperatures is because of the southerly flow we are seeing. Monday will be another sunny and even hotter day. Highs are expected to reach about 87 which, if we hit, would break the previous record high of 86 which was set in 1991.
