South Peoria house a total loss after fire late Monday night, department says
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 1 1/2-story home in South Peoria was demolished after a fire caused so much damage that it couldn’t be saved, the fire department said. According to Battalion Chief Larry Carter, crews were called at 11:22 p.m. to the 2900 block of West Marquette Avenue on a report of fire. When they arrived, they saw a fully engulfed house with fire showing through the roof. Extra crews were called due to the size of the blaze.

UPDATE (6/11/2024) — Peoria police said on Tuesday that the victim of a Monday night shooting on Peoria’s East Bluff was 13 years old. According to Peoria police spokesperson Semone Roth, the boy suffered a gunshot wound in his leg. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

South Peoria man indicted for allegedly trying to kill his cousin
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A South Peoria man was indicted Tuesday on charges he tried to kill his cousin by slicing his stomach open. Korie Neltner, 36, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery in connection with the May 11 incident on West Lincoln Avenue. Last month, a Peoria County judge ordered him to be held in custody at the county jail pending the outcome of his case.

PEORIA (25News Now) - At least three people were hurt, and multiple people arrested following weekend shooting incidents in Peoria, one of which involved a stolen weapon.
