NWS confirms EF3 tornado in Lake of Egypt area as cleanup efforts continue
JOHNSON and WILLIAMSON COUNTIES, Ill. (KFVS) - The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF3 tornado went through the Lake of Egypt area on Sunday. According to NWS, the EF3 tornado began north of Goreville, Illinois, crossed Interstate 57, I-24 and Ill. Highway 37, then traveled into a subdivision on the Lake of Egypt, before dissipating.

Remains of Illinois soldier killed in Korean War to be laid to rest
ELWOOD, Ill. - The remains of an Illinois soldier killed during the Korean War will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on May 29. Army Pfc. Bryan Myers Jr., 21, a native of Cobden, Illinois, was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He died in September 1950 while defending the Pusan Perimeter in South Korea.
