Today is the Alton Memorial Day Parade, and organizers expect a parade that will look like many of the past. The event in Upper Alton starts at Alton Middle School, winds around the block at Washington Plaza/Washington Square, and heads north to Locust, winding up at the Upper Alton City Cemetery.
Man identified in East Alton shooting
The Madison County Coroner has identified the man involved in a shooting incident last week in East Alton. 47-year-old Shannon Musgraves died early Friday of what authorities say was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene after police responded late Thursday night to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Lakeside Drive.

City of Jennings could pay out millions in lawsuit without insurance coverage

East Alton man sentenced in murder-for-hire
An East Alton man was sentenced to 29 years in prison for directing an acquaintance to open fire on his ex-girlfriend. Lorenzo Miller, 42, received the sentence Tuesday, May 21 in Madison County Circuit Court. In April, a trial jury found Miller guilty of solicitation of murder and obstructing justice.
