Victim of Greenfield homicide identified
GREENFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Authorities have identified the victim in a Greenfield homicide. Laurie Loisel, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, said that the body of 35-year-old Christopher Hairston, whose last known address was in Pittsfield, was found in a Chapman Street apartment on Monday after police were called to investigate a foul odor.

Grim details emerge in Greenfield homicide investigation
GREENFIELD — In the Chapman Street apartment where Taaniel Herberger-Brown used to live, police found a partially dismembered body on Monday afternoon. Hours later, Herberger-Brown, 42, was arrested at Albany International Airport in New York, where he said he was catching a flight to visit his mother and to various foreign destinations. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office detained him.
Three animals lost in Brattleboro structure fire
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — The Brattleboro Fire Department is investigating a structure fire that claimed the lives of three animals. Two stations were dispatched just before 7 p.m. Thursday, for a fire at a home on Carriage Hill Road. The caller reported smoke coming from the vents in the roof.

New Brattleboro homeless shelter to replace Morningside House
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (WCAX) - The Brattleboro homeless shelter where a staff member was brutally murdered a year ago will be torn down and replaced with a new shelter. “We want to start fresh with a building that is designed to be a shelter,” said Libby Bennett with Groundworks Collaborative, the agency that provides housing, food, and wrap-around services for those in need in the Brattleboro area.
